Performance Prediction and Website Design

Dan worked at McLaren Formula 1 for six years, leading their Vehicle Modelling team, but left in 2004 to try his hand at boats. Having completed a PhD in the aerodynamic analysis of sails, he now works in Valencia on the simulation and performance prediction of America's Cup yachts.

Dan has developed a dynamic velocity prediction program for Vestas SailRocket to help understand stability issues, and to validate Malcolm's own performace prediction work. Before his job took him abroad, Dan worked on instrumentation and performance analysis for the boat, but now contributes to the regular design and performance discussions by email, Skype and carrier pigeon. Dan is also the designer of this website.
