CHRISTOPHER HORNZEE-JONES

Mechanical/composites design & wing design

Chris has been attracted to just-possible projects since an early age and has amassed a broad range of design expertise in the process. His work, in diverse fields, springs from a fascination with our human potential for movement, both natural and enhanced by our creations. After training in aeronautical engineering at Southampton University and with British Aerospace, he spent 5 years with SP Systems, including designing the Lotus mountainbike. For the last 10 years he has been working worldwide with wind turbines, artworks and architectural projects. Chris has this year founded Aerotrope, a multi-disciplinary design practice based in Brighton, and has taken on the design of the wingsail for SailRocket. The aerodynamics and ultra lightweight structural technology behind this will build on Chris’ recent experience of designing, building and flying a rigid wing hang glider of novel configuration.
